Arlington, VA – Today, President Donald J. Trump officially transferred to the United States Senate his nomination of Republican Congressman Darrell Issa of California’s 49th District to be the fifth senate-confirmed Director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency. When confirmed by the Senate, Congressman Issa would be the first Member of Congress to ever serve as Director in the Agency’s 25-year history.
“It is an honor to be nominated by President Trump to lead the United States Trade and Development Agency, said Representative Issa. “As a senior Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I have traveled the world learning about the intricacies of foreign markets. And as a former CEO, I know first-hand how important job creation is to our economy. I look forward to the Senate confirmation process, and, when confirmed, look to fulfill the mandate of the USTDA as the lead agency focused on growing U.S. jobs and exports in developing markets across the globe.”
