Arlington, VA – U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) Director Enoh T. Ebong will travel to Atlanta from March 25-27 to highlight opportunities for Georgia companies to export to USTDA-funded infrastructure projects in sub-Saharan Africa. The Director will join the Atlanta Phambili roadshow of South African government and business leaders that U.S. Ambassador to South Africa, Reuben E. Brigety II, will lead under the Prosper Africa initiative.

“The core of USTDA’s mission is the deployment of U.S. technology to the priority infrastructure projects that we help to develop in emerging economies. A critical component of our success is connecting with U.S. companies that offer sustainable infrastructure solutions,” said Director Ebong. “Atlanta is an innovation hub and gateway to many countries in Africa. It is a natural partner for USTDA as we build our portfolio across the continent.”

During the three-day roadshow, Director Ebong will highlight USTDA’s commitment to the region, particularly as a convener of U.S. and African business. While with the delegation, Director Ebong will meet with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, join conversations with U.S. companies about South Africa’s business environment, and participate in an investor roundtable. She will also deliver remarks at the roadshow’s Trade and Innovation Event to highlight how USTDA helps to develop Africa’s infrastructure for trade.

While in Atlanta, Director Ebong will meet with Georgia Africa Legislative Caucus to identify ways for USTDA to help promote sub-Saharan African infrastructure development opportunities for Georgia’s business community. She will also speak to students at Spelman College.

Director Ebong will also reconnect with USTDA’s Atlanta-area Making Global Local (MGL) partners to update them on USTDA’s latest priorities and deepen collaboration for outreach to local companies. USTDA’s MGL partners in Atlanta are The Georgia Department of Economic Development, Invest Atlanta, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center, and the World Trade Center Atlanta.

The Director’s travel to Atlanta advances Biden-Harris Administration priorities, including the Prosper Africa initiative to substantially increase two-way trade and investment between the United States and sub-Saharan Africa, the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, and the Digital Transformation with Africa Initiative. It also furthers commitments made at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in December 2022.
