
Senior Country Representative, Brazil
Rodrigo Mota is the United States Trade and Development Agency Senior Country Representative for Brazil. In this capacity, Rodrigo is responsible for implementing and overseeing the agency’s programs in the country in direct coordination with the agency’s headquarters in Arlington, VA.
Rodrigo has over two decades of experience serving in key capacities with the United States Government. In his current capacity, Rodrigo oversees USTDA operations in Brazil, advancing key agency priorities and bilateral initiatives in the country including the U.S.-Brazil Aviation Partnership, U.S.-Brazil ICT Partnership, U.S.-Brazil Global Procurement Initiative: Understanding Best Value (GPI) as well as strategic dialogues and interagency cooperation agreements. Rodrigo is a member of the agency’s global transportation, energy, and healthcare sector teams and sits on several in-country infrastructure and financing related committees.
Prior to USTDA, Rodrigo served in several capacities at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Foreign Commercial Service (USFCS), including as a trade and business development specialist, advisor to the Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs and analyst, where he authored economic and market intelligence reports, led trade and buyer delegations to the U.S., monitored developments in key areas such as intellectual property rights, infrastructure development and financing, emerging technologies, and due diligence, as well as helped advance strategic projects in the energy, transportation and ICT sectors in Brazil and the United States.
Rodrigo holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor on international trade from the University of São Caetano do Sul (USCS), an international executive MBA in international business management from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), in association with the Harris School of the University of Chicago and is currently enrolled in an economy, investment and banking MBA program with the University of São Paulo USP/Esalq. Rodrigo received a certificate in strategy execution for public leadership from Harvard, is a licensed Project Management Professional (PMP), a registered business administrator through the Brazilian Regional Administration Council (CRA-SP/CFA), and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
