Reverse Trade Mission: Latin America Subsea Fiber Optic Cable

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is hosting the Latin America Subsea Fiber Optic Cable Reverse Trade Mission from March 1-10, 2020. The purpose of the visit is to familiarize Argentine, Chilean and Ecuadorian telecommunications representatives with U.S. subsea and land-based fiber optic cable technologies and related infrastructure solutions to support upcoming subsea fiber optic cable, broadband and other ICT projects. The visit's itinerary includes meetings and site visits in the Washington, DC and New York metropolitan areas with subsea cable providers, developers, U.S. government organizations, regulators, financing organizations, industry associations, and U.S. technology and equipment providers. The visit will highlight U.S. best practices in cable system design, manufacturing, installation, and regulation as well as the technologies, services, and financing mechanisms to support subsea cable project development and implementation. Other key areas of interest include 5G technologies, data centers, and cybersecurity technologies.
