The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is hosting the Brazil Banking Operations Technologies Reverse Trade Mission. Exponential growth in electronic banking transactions in Brazil is largely credited to increased broadband internet connectivity and the widespread use of smart phones. Approximately half of all banking transactions in the country occur through the internet and mobile devices, with a record 400% increase in mobile-based payments registered in 2015.
The objective of the RTM is to introduce representatives of the Brazilian financial sector to the latest U.S. technologies, services, and best practices in mobile and internet banking. Topics of discussion will feature customer relationship management and cybersecurity for banking operations. The delegates will participate in meetings with industry representatives, associations, financial institutions, and U.S. government agencies.
