About the Grantee
BCS is a private wholesale telecommunications infrastructure provider with its main office in Kenya serving East, Central, and Southern Africa. BCS operates through subsidiaries incorporated in Angola, the DRC, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Project Background
Since opening operations in 2010, Bandwidth and Cloud Services Group Limited, or BCS, has built a large network of backbone and metropolitan fiber across East and Central Africa, allowing it to offer a variety of wholesale services such as IP transit, dark fiber leases, fiber-to-the-tower, open-access fiber-to-the-home, and fiber-specific engineering, procurement, and construction services. Recognizing that major infrastructure gaps still exist across Africa, BCS is planning to further expand its network infrastructure.
About the Study
The Study will provide BCS with physical survey of the intended fiber routes to inform deployment methods, indicate physical obstacles, and identify other risks. The Study will also include market analysis, economic analysis, a financing plan, a preliminary environmental and social impact assessment, regulatory and legal analysis, a developmental impact assessment, U.S. sources of supply analysis, and a Project implementation plan.
