Arlington, VA – The U.S. Trade and Development Agency will bring a delegation of port operators and government officials from Angola, Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal to the United States to build partnerships in support of modernizing ports in Sub-Saharan Africa, helping to improve maritime security and strengthen critical supply chains.
While in the United States from September 12 to 19, the 15-person delegation of port senior officials and technical decision makers will travel to New York; Washington, DC; and Wilmington, NC. There, delegates will meet with U.S. companies and see demonstrations of cutting-edge U.S. technologies that can modernize port infrastructure, digitalize supply chains, and enhance maritime logistics and security. Delegates will also tour the Ports of New York and New Jersey, Liberty Bayonne, and Wilmington to see U.S. technologies in practice and meet with port officials and organizations.
USTDA will host a public business briefing in Washington on September 16 where U.S. companies can hear directly from the delegation about upcoming commercial prospects and engage one-on-one with delegates to showcase their port modernization technologies, services, and solutions. Sub-Saharan Africa is home to global supply chain hubs that handle substantial cargo volumes, and the sector is primed for modernization to improve cargo handling efficiencies and port security. The U.S. private sector can provide trusted solutions for port automation and digitalization, including cybersecurity solutions, that will help secure global supply chains.
