ARLINGTON, VA – The U.S. Trade and Development Agency awarded a grant to Terminal de Contenedores de Cartagena S.A. (Contecar) for a feasibility study to assess power supply options at the Port of Cartagena.  In order to meet the port’s energy needs during peak demand, accommodate increasing electricity demands and improve the reliability of its power supply, the feasibility study will allow Contecar to identify the most promising power supply strategy for the port.

The project offers potential export opportunities for a range of U.S. equipment related to power supply and port expansion projects that are dependent on a reliable energy supply.

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with Contecar,” said Nathan Younge, USTDA’s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. “Establishing a reliable energy supply at the Port of Cartagena will allow Contecar to support the port’s expansion, while also creating prospective commercial opportunities for U.S. businesses looking to work in Colombia.”
