Global Procurement Initiative Orientation Visit for Botswana
Dates: December 6-13, 2014
Locations: Washington, D.C.; and Austin, TX
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will conduct the second phase of the Procurement Assistance Program for Botswana by hosting 14 procurement officials to the United States for an eight-day orientation visit on value-based procurement. The visit will include advanced follow-on procurement training and meetings with federal procurement entities in Washington, D.C. The visit will also incorporate meetings and site visits with local government procurement units in Austin, Texas, providing delegates the opportunity to observe the use of innovative procurement procedures for high-value goods and services. This activity will build on the first phase of Botswana's Procurement Assistance Program under the GPI, which took place in March 2014, during which approximately 40 officials from Botswana's Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) and nine government ministries received three days of in-country training in value-based procurement, led by USTDA's GPI partner, the George Washington University Law School's Government Procurement Law Program.
